Lesley Buurlage (born 21 June, 1997 in Netherlands) is a Dutch racing driver who is currently competing in the Formula One career.
Seasons[]
1991[]
He débuted for Minardi in the United States Grand Prix. retiring in his début race and in Brazil. His first points finish came at Great Britain, and again in Germany and Hungary, where he later scored his first podium finish in Japan. He finished 11th in the Driver's Championship.
1992[]
In the 1992 season, he moved to Footwork, where he won his first race for the team on Kyalami. He won another race in Monaco. He fought during the season with Tobi Kederer and Florin Diaconescu for the championship. but in the end he finished 3rd in the standings with 36 points, 20 points behind Tobi Kederer.
1993[]
In the 1993 season, Buurlage joined Tyrrell to replace the leaving driver Sasha Jednak. He became the 2nd driver next to reigning champion Tobi Kederer. In his first race he finished second, 0.6 sec. behind winner Sebastien Levret. He won the second race of the season in the wet race at Interlagos. After that, he gained another 3 podiums in a row, one 3rd place at Donington and 2 wins in Imola and Barcelona. In Monaco he was heading for another podium, before a broken suspension ended his race and his 5-podiums-in-a-row streak. He won again in Canada, Great Britain, Germany and then in Portugal. He was crowned the champion at the end of the season.
1994[]
In 1994, Tyrrell retained Buurlage and their new teammate will be Ferrari driver Ben Utzer after 1992 champion Tobi Kederer left the team.
